Has anyone gotten their dorm assignments yet? I think I may have gotten mine, I’m not 100% sure…
@AMS0203 The dorm assignments are on our site (Exeter Connect, the secure server), though they aren’t 100% confirmed. Things are due to change by the fall but I’d say you have a pretty good chance of staying wherever you were placed.
Yeah, I saw them through Exeter connect.
I can’t find a dorm assignment on Exeter Connect. Should I be worried?
I found it – search for your name in the top right “Community Directory.” If the dorm is not listed in bright red font, you can search each dorm separately. A lot of the new kids are slotted into a dorm but it is not specifically listed next to their name. But if you search for everyone in Soule (for example) you will see the names.
It is a little bit of trial and error, but here is how you find out what Dorm you are in if it is not listed (most of the new kids are not listed yet) and you can’t wait for the email in August:
- Log into Exeter Connect - go to Advanced Search in Community
- Select a single dormitory (for example, Amen Hall)
- Select "New at PEA"
- Look to see if your name is there
- If your name is not there, repeat and select a different dormitory
One can narrow things down and shorten the process if you know the names of the girls and boys dormitories ahead of time.
@heartburner Thanks so much for your help!
@Jec7777 Did you find it?
Looking at the number of kids slotted for dorms, it is clear that there will need to be a number of new beds placed in existing dormitories. 23 New Beds to be specific. The number of boarding students in 2014-2015 was 851. The number of boarding students for 2015-2016 will be 874.
Looking at the numbers, the boarding yield for class of 2019 must have been much higher than expected because ~90% of that class (172 out of 199) will be boarding, as opposed to ~80% in the other classes.
What Dorms will be burdened with the conversion of singles to doubles or doubles to triples given the unexpected number of boarders scheduled to arrive in September?
@AMS0203 Yup! I’m in Ewald!
@heartburner It’s hard to tell. As far as I know, triples are very, very rare nowadays. I think the administration tries to convert singles to doubles as opposed to doubles to triples. I think they try to spread it around to the dorms, so no one dorm is loaded with too many incoming preps.
The number of students in '19 won’t be too strenuous on the school – the class of '17, my class, had an insane amount of students as well, making us the largest prep class in Exeter history.
@Jec7777 cool! I’m in Amen!
@AMS0203 Nice!
@heartburner I saw. Maybe it was an error in the system and we weren’t supposed to see it yet.
Early release of data from exeter - just like March 9th admissions!
@heartburner oh, that makes sense.
Just a question for you guys-- Have you finished choosing courses and submitting them online?
@theidoit Yup. I’m all set in terms of course selections.
@theidoit same for me. I received my course selections a while ago. But I think we don’t know our actual schedule until we get there…bummer.
