You can see your schedule - go to LionLinks, Student Info, “My Academic Year Courses” It will look like a 1980s style printout in courier font.
@heartburner @AMS0203 You can view what courses you’re registered for using heartburner’s method, but you don’t get a proper schedule with what blocks/periods each class takes up until the day you arrive-- you’ll be at the science center to register, but make sure to stop by your P.O. box in the Academy Center to pick up a printed copy of your schedule and the Ebook!
@theidoit When does the 2015-16 Ebook come out? Exeter connect still has the 2014-15 version.
@heartburner It’s unlikely that the typical 14 year old will know what this means
@skieurope Right - Maybe those that have watched “Halt and Catch Fire” could understand the historical reference.
@heartburner Not sure. But I doubt there will be many changes, other than one for the new dress code.
Hello! Nice to meet you
Sorry for any question, but im so curious about your extracurricular actives before you get into PEA.
I am so confused, bc everyone worries about having medals and things like that, be a person full of experiences and stuff.
I don’t know, im not like this, I have a passion, something that moves me, and that is a big reason I’m here today and do everything I do. Ok, my grades ISN’T PERFECT, i don’t have any medal, but i have real passions and they’re so big. I would like some advice about it because I really trust in your help. TYSM!!!
I’m not 100% sure what you’re trying to say, but if you’re worried about extracurriculars at Exeter, you’re deeply mistaken. Being one of the biggest boarding schools in the country, there is a great number of student-run clubs on campus-- there is a club night, as well as an ESSO (community service) club night, and you will be able to sort things out there.
hi, is it possible to travel to NYC on saturdays to my music school (which is located in NYC)?
@Anonymousia I’m not 100% sure, as there are Saturday classes every once in a while. That’s a good question to ask your advisor to see how often you’d be able to go, because I know that there are trips to NYC and Boston. Also, you might want to talk to your music school and ask them if the situation arises that you have class and you are unable to go, whether or not that absence would be excused. I’m not sure how strict your music school is about attendance, but if your absence is in regards of attending your “other” school, I’m sure they’d understand.
@Anonymousia Time wise going to NYC on Saturdays will be very difficult, especially if you’re planning on taking amtrak. If you are planning on taking the train, you’ll need to go from the exeter station down to north station which takes about an hour and a half. You’re going to need to either walk or take the boston transit to south station and then take a train to penn station, which should take nearly 5 hours. A one-war ticket for this kind of trip can go from $100-$300. This is also assuming train schedules work out because there aren’t always trains running at necessarily the most convenient times. Typically Boston buses are once a term (school co is still working on this I believe though) and NYC are once a school year (but only if there’s a special event/program occurring). So unless you have someone driving you, going to NYC every weekend, will be pretty close to impossible. Also, if you’re planning on playing a sport this will be a problem because JV and V teams will have either practice or games on Saturdays. Most clubs also like to use Saturday for meetings. All in all, I suppose in theory the trip could be doable, but in practice I would highly recommend not planning and going down to NYC for your music school. I know it might not be up to par with what you’re used to, but we do have some pretty amazing music teachers on campus with whom you can get private lessons with.

Can anyone give me guidance on “Family Weekend” events. I need to know whether we should be there on Friday morning or Friday late afternoon. Travel is difficult coming from the west given time difference. If someone has a schedule/agenda from last year, this would be most helpful.
In my opinion Friday morning is the best time to be there. Friday is the day that you attend classes with your child and lots of activities are planned. I will pull out a copy of the activities when I return from my business trip.
Thanks vegas. I found last years agenda:
Dorm assignments are out again, on the parent portal.
Actually, they’re on ExeterConnect too.
They are giving out advisor information and roommates by email. The exeter.edu outlook accounts.
There’ve done away with the tie requirement. Blazers were not required. Big news!
Thanks to StuCo, and their legendary president, the changing of dress code was a huge step for Exeter, IMO.
For parent’s weekend, especially for new families, I recommend trying to spend as much time as possible attending classes with your student each of the days, meeting teachers and attending the events with faculty. Don’t shortchange yourself by only going for one of the days. It is a wonderful weekend, and will help you understand and share your child’s experience. We went briefly the next couple of years too, but the first one was the best.
Also, make hotel and restaurant reservations (Portsmouth restaurants) early. Portsmouth is about a 30 minute drive so it works if Exeter hotels are booked up, and travel to Portsmouth is not considered "off campus’ so permissions and taking a friend to dinner works easily.
