Thanks @Herbo11 . I saw on another board that a lot of students rent from Amazon.
@psssthoy you can get new or used textbooks through the Villanova bookstore, but a lot of students do rent books from Amazon as well.
@Beenthere22 if the schedule for orientation stays consistent from year-to-year, move-in day is Wednesday, and like @Herbo11 said, there are no activities except for a luau/other social gathering at night so that you can begin to meet other members of your graduating class. Thursday has information sessions for students and parents. It is also the day that you and your parents will meet your orientation counselor and later you will meet your group. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are days for students where you spend most of the day walking around campus with your orientation group going to information sessions or fun presentations.
Does anyone know what time “opening day” wraps up from the parents stand point? Trying to plan when I will be leaving the campus to travel back home.
@drdansan Parents portion of orientation wraps up Thursday late afternoon August 23.

If my son has one of the last check in times for move in day, will there still be enough time to get everything unpacked and settled in before he has to go to the night activity?
@novanationer12 Hi! I’'l be a transfer student in the fall and I need to find off campus housing. Do you know of places nova students rent? I’ve run into the issue that most places won’t allow undergrads and I really need to find housing!
Hi there!
I’m an incoming freshman class of 2022 and I have a question about Stanford hall. If you are in a double there, can you move a bed to go flat against the wall with the windows? Also, if you are assigned a room with a wardrobe, can you move it around?
I was also wondering the same thing about Stanford Hall. I thought I saw in an online picture a wardrobe moved sideways next to the bed so maybe the desk went where the wardrobe was? I was also looking at the picture of the windows and it looks like there is a heat duct or something in front of it so I wasn’t sure a bed would fit flat?
@student2959 @gigs17 have room assignments come out?
The assignments are supposed to come out in late July. My son deposited early and I heard early deposits get Stanford Hall so I was looking at pictures of the rooms there.
@Domer97 no room assignments haven’t come out yet.
And I noticed the wardrobes. If you look at the room specs they say that some rooms have the wall closet with cubbies + a dresser, some have two freestanding wardrobes (no dresser), and a 3 or so have both - in Stanford Hall that is.
But I was more wondering about the heating vent. Can we move a bed in front of it? What are the limitations for putting things on/near it?
There is a windowsill type thing behind it that would be nice to utilize for storage
Hi everyone! Sorry for the late responses.
@acollegiate Here is a link from Villanova’s website with some off-campus housing! I think a lot of upperclassmen live in the Suburban Courts Apartments or Home Properties of Bryn Mawr, but I’m not 100% sure. There are a lot of options!
@student2959 and @gigs17 There are also doubles in Good Counsel Hall, and a few scattered in the other dorms. I’m sure you can move the beds anywhere you want in the room. I was in a triple my freshman year and we moved the loft and bunk beds around. The loft bed was directly next to/over the A/C / heating unit. You may have trouble putting the bed against the wall with the window depending on where your A/C / heating unit is located on the wall (edge vs. middle), but you are allowed to move the furniture around to your preference. You can also change the height of the beds, and I believe you can bunk them if you would like.
@student2959 yes, some dorms have the two closets built into the wall and some have wardrobes. I’m not sure if there are any triples with both the built-in closets AND wardrobes. However, my freshman year I was in a triple and I bought a portable metal wardrobe to store my clothes in rather than sharing a built-in closet, which is always another option.
@gigs17 The school’s move-in procedure leaves plenty of time to get you in and out before the evening activities. From what other parents have said on the Villanova parents Facebook page, move-in is well organized and flows fairly smoothly.
As a parent, this is an exciting time…my son just received his dorm/roommate information. Good luck to all in the fall!
Speaking of room assignments, if a student wanted to loft his bed, does the school provide a kit to do that?
@psssthoy if the student is assigned to a triple room, one of the beds is already lofted and the other two are bunked. if the student is assigned to a double, the beds are adjustable. however, the beds go to a maximum height of around 25-35 inches between the floor and bottom of the bed, and you are not allowed to bring bed risers to make it higher.
@novanationer12 Thanks for the info.
I have a question concerning schedules. I was able to see my schedule by going on mynova and searching schedule builder. I noticed that only 4/5 of my classes were actually put on my schedule. Spanish was still put off to the side. Is this my final schedule? And am I able to adjust certain class times?
