Please anyone help me . My son want to be a doctor, surgeon. If i am going to serch a college for him what major do i have to write on search?

Any major, any college that he likes the best. The most important for Med. School admission is college GPA and MCAT score. The secondary but very important considerations are participating in volunteering, shadowing doctors, research and ANY medically related activities and other EC’s that involve leadership. The very least of your worries, the last on priority list is the UG college that your son will attend. Let him decide the best place that matches his personality and all goals (not only carrier goal, but place where he can mature as a person and enjoy living for 4 years of his life)

You need to re-post this on Parents Forum to get the optimal amount of advice. I would also suggest posting on the actual college threads that he intends to apply to. This is a Parents political thread and you will have very few responses regarding university options.

Around here Biology is the most common major for our students who go on to medical school. That said, we have students from all the sciences and from some social science and humanities fields who take the prereqs as undergrads, do well on the MCAT, and go on to medical school.

He can major in whatever he likes, so long as he completes the med school prereqs along the way. Many schools have premed advisors to make sure this happens.

My dad was an econ major who didn’t plan on going to med school until pretty late in the game, but it turned out his econ was a great choice–now he runs his own practice.

Basically, allow your kid the freedom to take the classes that interest him, regardless of major.
