I love both medicine and space so I’m thinking of majoring in astrophysics (or physics if the school I end up going to doesn’t have astrophysics) while on a pre med track. This is super quirky but I’m really into it. What do you think??
It’s do-able but with a fair dose of caution. You’ll have to take a lot of low-level science classes as both pre-med and major classes, you may not find them conceptually difficult, but they will be a lot of work and time consuming. They key is to space these classes out with gen-eds.
With a physics major, you will have the premed requirements in physics and calculus covered. But you will still have to take courses in chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, statistics, and perhaps others for premed requirements. It is certainly doable, but you need to schedule carefully to avoid overloading on labs.
