ASU or Notre Dame?

My choices for school are either ASU Honors College or University of Notre Dame.
I got my acceptance letter from Notre Dame a week ago and am very proud to get into it.
However, as you know, the cost differece between the two schools is huge and my main question is,
even if I go to ASU and its honors college, would i get a smiliar quality of education?
Does an education from a more prestigious school like Notre Dame make that much of a difference in the future???
Or would it just be more practical to go to ASU since it is cheaper??

I do not believe there is necessary a correct answer. It all depends on individuals and situation. My son was admitted two years ago to Rice, WashU, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, and a few others. Due to the cost difference, he chose to go to ASU’s Barrett Honors College and never look back. He is doing well and happy there. ASU’s Barrett is highly respected and will definitely offer you a very good education and many opportunities. But you and your family have to decide base on your situation.

Oh alright thanks,

but do you think the career options after graduation will be as good if i go to the honors college too??

Yes, I believe so. Sometime it also depends on your major and what your career aspiration is. Are you planning on going to graduate or professional school?

No,
not for now
I’m planning on just getting a job or finding a career right after college. I might consider graduate school later in life after I make some money.

For just getting a job right after college, the key is to learn and get a good GPA in the school that you attend. Either Notre Dame or ASU Barrett will be fine in this regard and I will save money to go to ASU Barrett if the cost difference is huge.

Does anyone know how ASU stacks up against West Virginia University in the Engineering Department? I can not find this information.

West Virginia’s engineering department isn’t ranked, ASU’s is in the top 50 or so I believe.

ASU has a superb alumni group. Getting jobs after college should be easy if you graduate from ASU Barrett.

ASU or U Mass Amherst Engineering?

In case you do suddenly decide on grad school… your chances at a good grad school are fine if you do well at Barrett. My peers at Barrett have gotten into Harvard, Yale, and Stanford law schools, and top medical schools as well. Even if you don’t want to go to grad school, name prestige in undergraduate education doesnt really matter. You should be VERY proud that you got into Notre Dame, but you won’t get a better job than if you went to Barrett. Your undergrad education is what you make of it. Now grad school… that’s a different story. But I say go with Barrett and don’t worry about drowning in debt for years, esp with this economy!
