ASU vs ISU vs UIUC

So I’ve narrowed down my college choices to either Arizona State (Tempe), Iowa State, and University of Illinois. I’ll be majoring in chemical engineering, however I did not get direct admit into UIUC so I’ll have to transfer into that after my sophomore year, which I’m not sure about. UIUC is probably my number one because it obviously has the best engineering school, but I’m not sure if not being in the engineering school until after my sophomore year would hinder my ability to get an internship or a job after graduation. Does anyone know if this is true? Would being in the engineering school for 4 years look better than for 2 years, or does it not matter?

Also, I just recently visited Iowa state and loved the campus and was very impressed by the engineering school as well. I’ll be visiting ASU on Monday but from what I’ve seen online, the campus is gorgeous and they also have a pretty reputable engineering school with loads of resources and research opportunities. They’re all pretty comparable in price, so that doesn’t matter.

If anyone could share their opinions that would be much appreciated. I’m stressing out about this a lot and only have a month left to make a decision.

Do not assume that you can transfer into UIUC engineering school. In fact, you probably will not be able to and will be stuck in a non-engineering college. Hopefully the decision between ISU and ASU will be clear after you visit both.
