Asus vs Macbook Pro

Hello! I am currently in the midst of seeking a computer for college. I don't have a specific Asus model in mind (I'm pretty bad at this but I do know that it will have an i5 or i7 processor and would be on the thinner side) and if Macbook it would probably be the 15" screen one with 2.5 GHz.

I will be a math/applied science major at UCLA and will be premed. I don't game, haha (I say this because a lot of threads concerning Asus laptops talk about gaming.) I just need something portable to carry around with me on campus.

I don't have a budget, so price doesn't really matter. Opinions (and advice for which Asus models would be suitable for me) are very much appreciated, thanks!

If you care about money, buy the asus.
If you can blow money, but the mac pro.
Not only are macs less bang for the buck but a lot of colleges don’t offer the same free software for macs that they do for windows.
Lets not even mention all the software that doesnt work with macs.
Look at the software you need and see if it is available for macs

Macs can legally run Win apps via Bootcamp (if you ever actually want something not available for MacOS). PCs can illegally run Mac apps via hacking.

Check if UCLA has a Mac or PC preference; some schools do, some don’t.

Our daughter liked her MBP, but then liked her Mac Air even more for its better portability.

Get the Asus. Dual-boot Ubuntu.

All the beauty of open source software, all the beauty of a fast Unix OS, none of that pesky extra $500 on the bill.
