No, that would be because of me but you know why :)

{{Colgate been successful in granting very generous aid to lower-income students by admitting as many wealthy students as possible who will pay the full ticket price. It did not need to make any kind of budget cuts}}}

Here is one instance Smith excels. Colgate offers only 30 % of its students aid. Smith offers aid to 60 % of its students. With the saving Smith could achieve if they cut aid to only 30% of its students they too could do many more things many of us have on our wish list and not make budget cuts either. But then 170+ low income students wouldnt be getting a great education, if they were getting educated at all. I guess fewer dinning rooms is still a fair price to pay in my opinion. The Praxis program that help fund students who accept unpaid internships is also a nice perk. Smith will also pay for students to attend meeting and seminars. My daughter and her friends were in DC at a convention complexly paid for, plane tickets included, by Smith. Granted, you can only do that once a year but its still generous of Smith to fund students who normally couldnt afford, or even those that can, attend cultural/ educational events around the country

Colgate is actually building its campus at the expense of the low income students. Ive never seen that low of a number of students receiving aid until now. But their average indebtedness at graduation is $13,452--very low by any standard.
Even Dartmouth gives aid to over 50% of its students. But Colgate is a private institution and can do as it wishes. It also explains the jump in SAT averages. Higher income students have higher scores.
Now that Colgate has done away with the online app fee and do not recommend SAT subject tests anymore, their applications will take what Im sure will be a huge jump. Mostly * Hail Mary* applications, but it will artificially bring the acceptance rate down and help with the rankings.

Absolutely true. I say bring on a Marxist revolution!!!! Then everybody can be happy! :D

For my last final in my last class as a senior in college, they read out the questions to copy into our blue book. The first one was to compare Marx and Lenin. I said that Groucho's jokes were pretty good but some of John's lyrics were kinda week.

{{I say bring on a Marxist revolution!!!! Then everybody can be happy}}

Only the peasants.. The bourgeois and upper-class could have a few issues.

Hey, I wasnt criticizing Colgate, just simply stating a reality. More power to the college if they can get enough applicants who are highly qualified and can still limit acceptances so 70% of their class pays full ride.

Colgate is a for profit institution and is taking full advantage of capitalist principles.
Colgate has a product that is in demand and they have decided to limit admission to those willing to pay full price. Its the American way. :)

Dammit. *cha/week/weak

Dammit. *cha/week/weak}}}

Ok, that zinged over my head. Any chance of posting the message without the need of a special code or having read some bizzare book only required of a poly sci student?

I couldn't edit my previous post when I absentmindedly typed "week" instead of "weak."

*cha/week/weak/ is something like one of the UNIX editing commands. No, I'm not a programmer but I could play one on TV.

Reminds me of Napoleon Solo. Am I showing my age?

Napoleon Solo? Now there's a name I've not heard for a long time.

Reminds me, at some point I need to watch my three Brit adventure series on DVD: episodes of "Secret Agent," "The Prisoner," and the Emma Peel epsiodes of "The Avengers." Yeah, I've got them aalllllllllllllllllllll. Mwu-hahahahhaha!

Time is the enemy.

OOOHHHHHH!!! Emma Peel! Gotta love Emma Peel! But then again, I loved Agent 99.
