Usually with athletic recruiting, a higher test score can make up for lower gpa. For Stevens, a strong math SAT or STEM ACT could make up for gpa. Also, at a D3, coaches usually rank their athletes in terms of ability and the higher up on the list one is, the lower the academics are. Your son should reach out to Stevens ASAP if he has not already as it is already late and the coach may have used up support by now.
