Athletic Facilities and Social Life

How are the two? I am worried that compared to UPitt, my other serious consideration, Brandeis will be lacking

Do you mean athletic facilities for recreational use, or are you a competitive athlete?

(Not that I know the answer to your question in either case, mind you…)

For Brandeis’s size, the athletic facilities are quite big, and quite complete. Full size track and field, baseball field, full size indoor track, many basketball courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, indoor squash, cardio machines, weight lifting rooms, and individual teams have their own rooms as well (the rowing team has an entire room for themselves for rowing machines), also they just announced that they are fixing the pool (which has come to a large surprise to many who thought it was a lost cause) so by 2012 there will, once again, be a pool.

Their basketball facility is good enough that it served as the Celtics’ official practice facility all through the 90’s.

Just recreational use.

And thanks. The pool was a big concern of mine.

I attended a summer program at Brandeis a couple of Summers ago… They have a great recreational sports facility, though I only walked through it-- I didn’t actually use it for anything. As far as social life goes, it consists of on campus clubs and groups. The nearby town, which you can walk to, has barely anything more than a Walgreens. Though, I believe there is a shuttle that takes you in to Boston which is about a 20 minute drive.

Just visited Brandeis and I am still not 100% sold.

Waltham seems pretty crappy—Moody Street wasn’t as happening as I expected. Is Waltham really this boring? Are there also parks/trails nearby for runners/bikers?

I’m just worried about social life and having things to do…
