ST2, she's a softball player. I'd love your input.

OK, I'll throw out an odd case for an answer...

I work for a university and my daughter would be eligible for a 50% tuition discount at my institution should she be admitted and decide to attend.

However, my institution does not offer the sport she plays (even on a club level) for women.

In addition, my home state offers a fixed amount scholarship good for attendance at any in-state accredited university (none of which offer my daughter's sport either) based upon HS GPA and renewed based upon university GPA.

Are Division III schools allowed to match this type of FA offering for a student? Would that fall under the general "matching of other school offers" regardless of whether it is an athelete? Would it be allowed as a 50% discount or the fixed amount based upon 50% of the tuition of my home institutions tuition?

When you add in the fixed GPA based scholarship, her total tuition at my institutuion would be $0 based upont current fees. Would they be allowed to match that?

When that time comes (in a couple of years), we will have her apply to my home institutuion as a safety as who knows what kind of offers we may or may not get.

However, I'd like to know what leverage we may or may not have when comparing FA offers.

Any questions and/or constructive suggestions are appreciated.
