Attend High School in the US

Hi,
As of this Fall I attend IB in Sweden, the whole point of me doing pre-IB is so I can study abroad when I'm done, but I just spoke to the student counsellor and he told me that if that is my main goal I should be able to do HS in the US instead which will be advantageous in some ways.

So I just wonder now, how many years will I have to do? Do this pre-IB year count towards anything? Because if I have to do four years it would be rather pointless.

And yes, I am confident that this is the best way and I've been thinking about it for quite some time.

Kind Regards.

Nobody knows? :(

A lot of U.S. high schools will let you graduate as soon as you have met all of their requirements, almost surely including four years of English. Are you thinking of public or private schools? Public schools tend to have a lot of little requirements that are hard for a newcomer to meet. Private schools emphasize academic requirements more, but some require you to spend two years there before letting you have a diploma.

Well, sorry for taking this long to answer and all, I’ve thought about private schools since it would probably be more suited, but I just wonder if it is possible to finish the High School course in two years.

That is probably the deciding factor and if it’s possible it would be of great relief, sure I might have to take extra classes both years but that is no problem.

Kind Regards

I’ll have to bump this since it’s of great importance to me.

I haven’t heard about graduating in two years… I know three years is definitely possible… pre- IB really doesn’t mean anything credit wise as far as I’m aware, it’s just good prep for IB classes…

Ah, thats a bummer because three years is one too many for me, so you’re certain it’s not possible or only that you’ve not heard of it? Well, since I do pre-IB there got to be some classes that match with high school, am I wrong?

Well when I was going through middle school, I do not recall there every being pre- AP or pre- IB, so I would not know about this. I don’t even know if it existed then or if it just wasn’t offered in my area. I have not heard of pre- IB or AP giving you high school credits.

Why are you in such dire need to graduate in two years? If you really want to do that, I’d contact different schools and ask them what you could do to graduate in two years. I’ve never heard of that before.

There are some high schools that have dual enrollment- you take two years at the high school, two years at a local community college, so you graduate in four years but get your first two years of college out of the way (general credits, anyway).

I also googled “graduating high school in two years” and the second article says that in New Hampshire they have an exam for 10th graders that if they pass allows them to graduate. Don’t know how legitimate that is though. Maybe if you researched it more you’ll find something.
