Attention Villanova Applicants!

Villanova University has just announced a "wonderful" new admission policy. If you are not a minority your chances of getting accepted have just fallen. Nova has just changed there admissions policy so that the must meet quotas on under represented minorities. Many students here are outraged at this new policy (including minorities). This policy is a violation of Supreme Court ruling University of California Regents v. Bakke. Which states that it was illegal for the University of CA to reject Bakke (a white male) and accept black students with lesser qualifications -- And guess what, that is what is going to happen with this policy. Here is my simple argument: Minorities are minorities. The reason there are soo few minorities in universities is that there are less of them. One cannot expect 50% of a university’s students to be minorities when say only 2% of the population is made up of minorities. The bottom line is, if you are rejected from Nova and you are a White or Asian student -- check out the admission statistics of minorities at Villanova. If they are lower then yours SUE and fight against discrimination!!

Only one person needs to challange this in the court of law and it'll be deemed unconstituitional.

uh no one will challenge it..it's affirmative action, I am totally FOR Villanova's decision, VU2009, you and others who are against affirmative action have to look at universities and the future of our country holistically and think pragmatically instead of individualistic. I've had arguements about affirmative action for years, especially on this forumn, furthermore the Supreme Court ruling will not at all be enforced in this situation, it is actually irrelevant..
