Audition pieces for clarinet? (band/orchestra audition)

Hey there!
Basically, I have an audition coming up which requires me to play some orchestra excerpts, scales/sight reading and a solo of my choice. That’s where I’m having trouble. I want to do something that has expression and technique, but I don’t have tons of time to learn anything super new.

I know that I should definitely not do Mozart, but what about the sonata by Saint-Saëns? I was thinking about doing the first or fourth movement, but I feel as if the first is not enough technique, and the fourth is not enough expression. Any opinions on that piece would be greatly appreciated!

I would love any other options for my audition if anyone thinks that the Saint-Saëns wouldn’t be a good idea. Thanks in advance!

Should give you an idea of what’s expected at many auditions.

Sending you a PM.
