Auditions for BFA vs BA

But, you know, you can never tell. My D only has theatre classes and one ballet class this quarter at UCLA and she is in a “BA” Theatre program…She is not allowed to take any “outside” courses until her second quarter freshman year, and that is only one class.

One thing I think MichaelNKat said rings true. I always look at the Playbills. Nine times out of ten, the school is not listed. Sometimes they have MFAs. Sometimes only BFAs. Sometimes BAs. Most of the time, nothing is listed. Either they didn’t get one, or don’t care to list it. What is more important is the working career.

Still, my absolute favorite actress right now is Meryl Streep… and I believe she received an MFA - Yale.

I think that it all depends on what you think you need. You can’t put too much stock on what the degree is. You need to go to the school that gives you the education you want.

Yep! And she did her BA at Vassar I believe. As did Hope Davis, another actress I love.
