It’s funny how quickly you can bond with other parents at auditions. At the Fordham auditions as I was looking out the window overlooking Lincoln Center another father approached me and we commented how lucky our kids were to be embarking on such exciting journeys. Within about a minute and a half, I learned that he was from my homestate and owned a summer house in the state I now live. When my son emerged from his audition he thought that this other father and I were college roommates we were having such a good time together…

I’ve met people from all over the country with kids who all share the same hopes and dreams… The theatre kids we’ve met (i.e. student ambassadors) at each school have all been so warm and gracious that it’s really reinforced my son’s decision that he’s entering the right field. Wherever we go I always ask current students “how do you like it here?” They invariably answer “I love it.” I think our kids will find a place that fits for them with a community of supporting theatre kids and faculty and we can see them grow as actors and adults as they enter this new world. Pretty exciting…

The way I view it is that at this point, since he did not recieve an immediate acceptance, no news is good news…it means that he’s still being considered (I so hope I didn’t jinx anything by saying this). Time is our friend…

I remember at one of the info sessions (either MMC or Pace) they said that rejections would be sent out shortly after auditions… It’s been three weeks since MMC auditions and two weeks since Pace auditions…

Amen! MY D’s last were Fri/Sat and we are truly relieved it is over. 9 Showings, 2 accept, 1 deny and 6 waiting it out.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to CC administrators/moderators and archives as this has been an invaluable resource for planning and execution. I always tell folks that this is resourceful site college information.

I have heartfelt sympathy for the students and parents that have or are going through this process. We can read and be told a lot of good stuff but when you couple it with visits it brings to light a new game. No two auditions/ information sessions are alike and some are less than rewarding. (LOL) Historically Positive Program Reputation does not always mean show me the love. My Ds notional preference list changed after each audition with some moving up and others down.

With the completion of auditions there are no lists. That is how I know we are relieved.
Spring Musical and spring break with vacation is now on the forefront. Letters will come sooner or later.

There is nothing fair about this process. It started four years ago. Now with experience I get to do this again in a couple of years.

Hey, its incredible reading postings of those that have been through the audition trail. My D and are are just beginning. One at Pace, the other at Webster, but still dreaming of a “big envelope” from Vassar College (they dont have auditions). Has anyone auditioned at either place mentioned above. Any advice, and if you had to choose between them?

It is so good to hear I’m not the only one waiting and hoping the best for their child. We live in a small city and all of my friends just put their kids in college and it’s over! I wish I had found this website at least a year ago. Not only for the mutual understanding of what we are all going through right now but also for all the information. Even though I am still a little weary from this process, I feel better knowing there are others like me out there.

Just a word on the “thin” vs. “thick” envelopes – my son got a thin envelope last week stamped “Theatre Department” – lo and behold it turned out to be an acceptance letter…

I saw an article recently that said March is the longest month – as anxiety levels spike waiting for the decisions to roll in…

This process provides a new meaning to March Madness! My D is now 2 & 2 with 5 awaiting. I look forward to sharing a recap and helping others with another view point once the process is over.

Trying to maintain good karma due to the five remaining. Economics vary considerably amongst the conservatories.
