August 25 2018 SAT Results

Pending in Atlanta, GA. Heard through Applerouth that there is a cheating scandal in connection with 8/25 test because it is same one used in Asia a couple of years ago. Supposedly wanted a tried and true test after the one in the summer was too easy and the curving made some kids scores go down despite missing same or fewer questions. Might be reason for delay.

@jsw1310 we have a thread about that controversy - http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/2096889-sat-8-25.html#latest

^Read the long thread on the latest cheating issue.

@vamom4. Ever since the New SAT, it is very typical for the vast majority of testers to have the message, “Your score is pending” when they logged in to check scores at 7 am. Most have received their scores by 7 p.m. that night, though.

I miss the “old days” when the vast majority of scores were released at 5 am. My older kids always had results at 5 am. My last kiddo has had the “pending” message every single time and has had to wait until the end of the day for the both SAT and Subject Tests scores.

I don’t really get why all the scores can’t be released all at once like they used to be. Is it because, the College Board’s servers can’t handle the volume of kids logging in all at once to see scores?

@vamom4 We’re all right here with you hoping those pesky scores come out soon! Hang in there (I know, easier said than done). Not too long ago when my kids starting taking the SAT tests, as @shuttlebus alludes to, we got all our results around 5 AM EST. This releasing throughout the day thing seems to be a practice started within the last…maybe 2 years? I hope you enjoy the support you find on these threads…

so our pending message says:

Your Score Is Pending
Congratulations on taking the SAT.

We apologize but your score is still being processed. You should get your score within a week; you’ll get an email when your score is available.

A week!!!

@Center Don’t worry, they always say that. Odds are still good that you’ll have the scores by the end of the day.

Pending message here in CA. First time SAT-taker.

Pending in Texas.

Pending in VA, first time SAT

DS got her scores today. Given all the other chatter about the August scores going around in posts and the news about the lawsuit, her scores were reasonably consistent with her practice scores…

Aug 25 was my first SAT. I’m in Indiana and I still have pending.

Have any first time SAT takers received their scores?

I’m a 2nd time test taker in Pennsylvania and still havent gotten it. It says Pending :frowning:
Hopefully it comes out soon too because I am registered for the ACT tomorrow and idk if I should take it or not.

Yes. DS19 took SAT for first time and received scores this morning. He was taking them for a qualifying SAT score for NMF but found out, after the test, that he missed the cutoff by 1 point. FYI, he missed 4 total on the Math for a 760.

I"m curious to know those that have received scores, what states they are in…out of everyone that said they’ve received their score, only one has said which state they are in- that one said Virginia. At least three kids in our Northern Georgia area have not received scores…I haven’t heard any here that have.

@ag627ftk - even if iyour ACT ends up being similar to your SAT, it will confirm your SAT as legitimate. (Colleges May really scrutinize the 8/25 scores) If your ACT is better than your SAT, you can just submit the ACT.

Score received in PA but DS19’s 2 friends who took them at different centers are still pending.

@tpike12 No one will really question if a score is a legitimate score. If you get a 1500 you get a 1500. Unfortunately they may look particularly hard at Chinese applicants’ scores. So really the issue is are you a cheater–a school may look at/request PSAT, ACT, Previous SAT, grades, TOEFL and grades as validation of an SAT that is really high if they have a reason to.

I just checked and DS19’s scores are up, 1st time for SAT, Alabama. His score is not high enough to raise any suspicions of cheating. He was hoping that he would do better on the SAT than he has on the ACT, but these scores are pretty much in line with previous ACT scores.
