Autism and college

Hello everyone here. I know a friend who has diagnosed with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has tantrum issues, which affected his performance in high school, but his tantrums had been under control since the start of his senior year, when his grades did really improve. He is really proficient in writing and is quite good in Math; other than these, he has no other notable strengths. He really looks forward to college. He has now graduated from high school and he decided to take a gap year through volunteering in a special needs community based overseas.

I wonder:

(1) Should he reveal his autism?
(2) What are the college chances for him, in Australia/Singapore/United States?
(3) What do you think are the majors he should concentrate/focus in?

Thank you.

This might be a helpful list of things to look for

There are also some threads in here about schools that have residential communities for AS/HFA (thought they are pricey)

If he is good at math, he might want to have a try at computer programming.
