What does Penn look for in this essay?

Page 217 of your autobiography.

Thanks then.

Jeydomz,
The autobiographical essay should be a portion where you speak of your inspiration, hope, ups & downs, trials, errors and triumphs. I know it sounds in depth, but that will give you a quality essay. This is the Ivy League and they would appreciate your courage and honesty. My motto is "bleed on the paper" because that's what I did and it worked for me. If you don't have a story about overcoming hardship that should be fine. Talent, craftiness and honesty should help you out plenty. Pg. 217 gives you an additional opportunity to show your talent and creativity. I am no admissions "expert" but I am here, ready to start classes tomorrow and I believe this is sound advice for you. Good luck!

The prompt is vague deliberately to make you be creative. If they're expecting anything, it's to be bored and reject you. Be creative instead,
