Automatic rejection?

I submitted my University of Florida essay which was 580 words, but was supposed to be 500 words max. Is this a problem? Is it an automatic invalidation of my application? Should I call them on Monday and ask if I can send a new essay? Help

It may very well be an automatic rejection, or they may just see the first 500 words. Call the school to ask.

don’t worry man i sent in much longer essays and it wasn’t a problem. you might irritate the adcom if you send something like 1500 words but 580 is no big deal. and just for my 2 cents if your essay was not cut in the preview of your app then i dont think that it will be cut later

I highly doubt it is an automatic rejection. Either it will show the whole thing, or it will be cut off, but what schools would reject you just for writing a little too much?
