My family will have an AGI of less than $31,000 for 2010, and my brother and I will both be in college for 2011-2012. We were both eligible for reduced lunches but have not been in high school recently. I will be a senior and he will be a fifth year senior. Does that mean we will not be eligible for the automatic EFC?

If you are 4 and 5 years out of high school then the reduced lunch program criteria wont apply to you - you have to have received the reduced lunches (in 2008 or 2009 for the 2010-2011 FAFSA).

But the requirements for the auto 0 EFC are the AGI **and ** meeting one of the other criteria. The other criteria include receiving certain means tested benefits or a parent being a displaced worker or parents being eligible to file a 1040a or 1040ez tax return. As long as you meet one of the criteria (and the income one of course) you should be eligible for the auto 0.

OK…I’m confused…are you college senior/super senior or high school?

In any event…the info Swimcatsmom has posted is what you need to know.

How old are you and when were you last in high school?
