This is something that i've always wanted to see, but never do. I don't get why colleges don't post their average applied SAT scores along with average accepted...it would help a lot to see where you are in the body of applicants, the difference between accepted/applied, etc etc.

If your school uses Naviance, you can see this information in the context of your school only. For my school the average applied is around 2310 and the average accepted is around 2350.

We don’t keep those data, but it really doesn’t matter for your application where you are in the body of applicants. We know that students who score in a certain range on each section do OK here. It depends on which section but usually 700 or higher is fine.

Once you clear that bar we stop caring about your scores. Really.

Wait, so all I need to do is clear 700 on CR and my SAT scores stop mattering? And here I was working my brains off for that 2350. Well, that’s a workload off I shall try to get that 2350 nonetheless, but you guys just relieved a lot of worry off this guy’s back
Might I ask for your SAT II bars? Is that 700+ as well or like 750+?

So the fact taht the higher SATs get selected more often is just because of what the higher SATs usually have to bring?
IDK, it seems to me like more of the 2300 plus SATs do more…so their college admissions sucess correlates with but is not caused by their high SATs…

It is not caused by high SATs. SAT scores are not an achievement like a IMO medal or a Siemens finalist or building something cool in your basement.

They are a predictor of success or cause for concern, and are regarded as such in our process.

Hmm… I guess this means if I only got a 650 on my CR, I should take it again… :\ Crud. Well, at least I got a 690 on my math… and 760 on my Math 2… :

Maybe I should just not bother applying… Lol. My scores are so much lower than the MIT average…

@nikki93: I think that to have a proton beam in my basement is cool. (it’s hust to have fun).
I am looking for a guide, but I don’t find anything about linear particle accelerator.

@nikki93: Do you know anything about particle accelerator?

Ahh! I got a 690 on math! And even with studying and retaking I still only scored 10 points higher. And I got a 760 on Math II! And my Chem SAT II score is way too shameful for me to blurt it out (though you can find it on the EA Decisions thread). As far as other sections go, I got 650 on Writing once. Twice, if we count sophomore PSATs. So, I guess I know a little bit how you feel. I just decided to apply and hope for nothing. It worked out okay :).

Im going to MIT, and I got a 1910 over all SAT, 31 ACT… and my SAT IIs were in the range of 600-680. Trust me, scores are not the only thing MIT looks at. There is more to a person than numbers!
