Average Salary of a Bentley grad

Bentley seems awesome in many respects but the one thing that has me confused is their average starting salary, which is $50,000. UMass’s is $58,000. This surprised me since bentley is ranked much higher and is supposedly seen as a good school in the business world. I’ve began to think that maybe it’s because a lot of people are marketing majors or they majored in a non-business degree. Any ideas as to why it’s lower than expected?

The average starting salary of UMass Amherst is $38,000 a year. The average starting salary of UMass Lowell is $47,000 a year. The average starting salary of Bentley is a little bit over $50,000 a year. The only reason UMass Lowell comes close is because they are a school known for engineering, an amazing field that gets very high paying jobs, especially early on. I believe you are also correct in saying that marketing classes and lower-paying business related majors are a factor in Bentley’s average, but $50,000 is nothing to scoff at direct out of college.

Forgot to mention, here is Isenberg’s (UMass Amherst’s Business School) specific stats for average starting salaries:

Accounting & Information Systems: $50,934
Finance & Operations Management: $47,662
Hospitality & Tourism Management: $34,279
Management: $40,970
Marketing: $40,686
Sport Management: $37,41

Again, very good, but Bentley’s is most likely higher in each definitive major, thus giving it a higher overall average.

Does anybody know when the decisions will be coming out for early decision applicants?

Thx

Just wanted to share that my son graduated in 2011 from Bentley. He was hired immediately as a financial analyst at a starting salary of $64,000. Two 1/2 years later he is earning over 100k for the same company.

Oh well when I visited UMass Amherst recently the president of Isenberg told me it was 58,000. Of course I’m sure they manipulate the numbers but how do you get 10,000 more than bloomberg reports?

I can say that I know of several people getting offered over 80,000 starting salaries as accounting or finance majors. The highest I have come across currently. Is for a student who will work for citibank after graduation at a starting salary of $122,000. He is a finance major. For majors like accounting and finance the average would be much higher. However, other majors do bring it down as others have mentioned. You would be wise to choose bentley over umass. I know of a few people who transferred from there and have said Bentley is the better business school. Good luck.
