I've been accepted to Swarthmore but my concern is adjusting there as an awkward introvert. I'm sure there are other students like me at Swat but do these students generally stay to themselves or do they develop through interactions with other students that may be more outgoing?

This is not really easy to generalize about. On one hand introverts might find it easier at Swat because the social scene is less overwhelming, and people are genuinely kind and welcoming. On the other hand, an introvert might find it easier at a larger school where they can disappear.

There are A LOT of awkward introverts at Swat. You’ll be totally fine. Introverts have tons of friends and participate in a huge range of activities on campus. Feel free to PM me if you want more details.

@hopebrinn13 OP doesn’t have enough posts to PM you. Gook luck on the yes campaign. S is class of '17 and would love to vote!

We wish he could vote too! Hopefully Swarthmore will move toward full inclusion.

I don’t know if there’s a better place to be an awkward introvert than Swat. My daughter is definitely one, and she found it very easy to find others of her kind! She fairly quickly found a group to play board games with, and it grew from there.

Good luck in your search!
