Ayn Rand

is so awesome!

Isn't she dead?

Yea, but this thread is about Ayn Rand's writings and how they rule.

Interesting character I must say. I like her views on government and rights.

A bit of a nut though. I've read a few of her writings + novels. Honestly though, some of it is just so far-fetched it's unbelievable.

Well I admire the fact that she seemed to be (I am not totally sure about this, so feel to correct me) pretty anti supernatural and pro reason.

she really makes sense to me. which is a little frightening.

I read Atlas Shrugged for extra credit and surprisingly loved it. I didn't think I would when I first looked at how thick it was. I was like politics and capitalism? boooo.... but i ended up loving it!

I never read Rand's fiction, but I like the 'Money Speech'.

Who is John Galt?

;)

The Passion of Ayn Rand by Barbara Branden is really good reading for Rand fans. While it isn't a perfect portrait of her (makes me question Objectivism) it does seem to be quite holistic. Apparently, according to Branden, she had a very obvious affair with Branden's husband and cited her philosophy as a reason to have the affair. That was something I had never known about Rand.

Atlas Shrugged is my absolute favorite novel of all time and always will be. I love the part when Dagny crashes into the mountains screaming, "To the h*** with John Galt!"

I actually liked Anthem. It was interesting, despite the whole having to mentally translate what was written.
