B on Honors Precalc. Need to go into Computer Engineering

Hello CC Forums! I am most likely receiving a B this semester in Honors Precalculus. However, it is seen as an A on my transcript. Would this be a problem if I want to go into computer science in the future? I am planning to take AP Calc next year, as a junior.

This is gibberish. How can you receive a B and then have the record of what grade you received say you got an AA?

Are you saying that your GPA is bumped up 1 pt because of an honors class? Most colleges use your letter grade.

@mikemac @TooOld4School No, this is because Precalc is an Honors class. Honors classes usually are bumped up by a letter grade. For example, let’s say I got a 76% (this did not actually happen), it would show up as a B on my transcript.

If it shows up as an A on your transcript, that is what the colleges will use. If it something like a 5 on a 6 point scale, many competitive colleges will scale it down.

@TooOld4School So… say if I got an 86%, colleges would read it as an A, right?

It depends on the scale used by your school. The school will release the percentage distribution to colleges and they will scale it accordingly.

Cool, thank you! @TooOld4School
