B’s in Sophomore Year of HS...

I’m currently a sophomore in high school and I feel like I’ve completely wrecked my chances at a top tier school. I’m most likely ending the whole year with 3 B’s, because I went through a really bad slump this year. My mom said that I most likely have no chance at an Ivy League/other top tier schools and I was wondering if it’s impossible to attend an Ivy League with three B’s in your sophomore year? I’m not really knowledgeable in this area, but I’m willing to learn more. I have a B in Spanish, Chemistry, and AP World. I’ve had all As the past years and this year has been a really rough slump for me. I feel like I need to be realistic and give up my dreams of attending a top tier school if my grades aren’t improving.

No. I got into a US News top 5 with some Bs. Just make sure to do your best this coming year. Junior year grades matter more than sophomore year grades. Go at this coming year with an attack mindset and really try to do the best in all your classes. If you can get straight A’s ahead, your grades shouldn’t be much of a problem.
