BA in music that is still performance heavy?

Some schools with more than 2k students that have very few music majors (but offer a music major…which may mean easier access to the professors) with the number of majors in the most recent graduating class are:

  • Boston College (MA): 1
  • Carleton (MN): 1
  • Colby (ME): 2
  • Colgate (NY): 1
  • Fairfield (CT): 1
  • George Washington (D.C.): 2
  • Hamilton (NY): 0
  • Loyola Marymount (CA): 4…but at a school with 7100 students
  • Macalester (MN): 2
  • St. Lawrence (NY): 2
  • Union (NY): 1
  • Villanova (PA ): no music major offered…at least per College Navigator
  • Wake Forest (NC): 2

Again, a school with an excellent extracurricular program for music could work well. All of the “little Ivies” (google that list. includes Williams, Amherst, Wesleyan, Tufts, etc.) come to mind but there are many others. Vassar comes up a lot for instance.
