I was thinking that If I went to Muhlenberg or any other non-audition college and got a BA in Acting, would the less intensive BA program reduce my chances of being a professional actor in New York than if I went to an intensive BFA program at like for example NYU?

claydavisdbc - I think you will find that becoming a successful actor does not necessarily have anything to do with where you go to school and what degree you have, but more with talent, determination, and a fair dosis of "being in the right place at the right time". Just read some of the bios of the most successful actors on Broadway and/or film; some have graduated from Ivy League schools, others have dropped out, some have Psych degrees, others BA's and/or BFA's. Life is really what you make of it :)

it is mostly luck. do what makes you happy, and the rest will follow.

Although I am a strong proponent of the BFA programs, in all honesty I have to tell you that when I was working professionally in theater, no one EVER asked me where I went to school or what kind of degree I had. Muhlenberg has an excellent program; it may be less intensive than a BFA program, but that doesn't mean that you won't get a good education there.
