I am from New York city. I have been admitted already. Now I have to decide which school to go to. I get financial aid in all schools so that is not a problem.
Getting financial aid is one thing, actual net cost is another - it matters because costs factors into value estimation.
In my opinion, your three choices are Babson, Baruch, or Kelley.
For international business/entrepreneurship, I’d go with Babson first since it’s topnotch for entrepreneurship and excellent for international business, then Kelley, than Baruch. If Baruch or Kelley you’d need to add a minor involving a specific country.
We had a family member attend Babson and I was really impressed with some of their programs. The tricky part is that they have a somewhat unique curriculum with lots of requirements as well as many interesting study abroad programs.
If you choose Babson, I would suggest that you do a lot of research/planning before the fall to ensure that you maximize your opportunities there. You will be entering during the peak study abroad time and if you wait until the fall to look into the programs, you could end up missing deadlines and/or missing out on programs due to scheduling conflicts.
I tend to think of Babson as a Liberal Arts College (LAC) for business majors, while Kelley is more of a traditional business school in large public university. It is sort of like comparing Williams College to U Michigan. My bias leans toward the smaller, more interdisciplinary, more teaching focused environment of Babson, but others would argue the case for the benefits of a large university environment. I also prefer the location of Babson.
At Babson, entrepreneurship is treated as a way of thinking and it is integrated into the entire curriculum, while at Kelley it is treated more traditionally - i.e. as a specialty within business.
Kelley will be more impersonal and, unless you’re in-state and costs are significantly lower than at Babson, you’ll be paying OOS costs ie., private school costs for public school amenities, for two majors that Kelley isn’t especially known for (not that it’s bad, but Babson is well-known for both fields, with entrepreneurship threaded into the curriculum and international exchanges being especially strong).
That being said, Kelley wins if you want D1 sports. Not sure it should be a tipping point unless you’re instate and Kelley is cheaper.
Babson is small. I did an executive program there. It was really excellent. But it all felt a bit corporate. I would vote for it but that’s my two cents.
If you plan on staying on the east cost/New England babson is a good option, but if you are considering going out west/midwest/south I’d say go Indiana because it has national recognition.
I’ll put in a tip for DU. Daniels puts a lot of money into the school so there are good opportunities. DU also has a good IR department and a lot of emphasis on trade.
D1 sports at DU are better than at Indiana. If money is really not a problem, I’d probably pick Indiana.
Thank you, @obsessedwcollege. I plan on staying on the East Coast or the West Coast (New York or California). I don’t want to go to the Midwest or South. How does that affect my decision?
