Bachelor CS to MSEE?

Hello guys,

I was wondering. I've seen Electrical Engineering graduates who was able to apply for a Master in Computer Science so I was wondering if it's possible for Computer Science graduates to apply for Electrical or Computer Engineering grad school?

I have a feeling that there might be classes that need to be taken to meet prereqs for grad courses before entering the program, but just curious.

Possible, but you wouldn’t be able to do stuff in certain specializations in EE (like microelectronics) without a lot of extra work.

Thanks for the response Kyt. Do you know what I’ll be limited to in terms of specializations/cognates?

It depends on your specific coursework rather than on your general major.

I want to say you’ll be limited to computer architecture, embedded, and signals. These are the more mathy/logic-y topics and less circuits and physics. (I’m assuming that math/logic will be more your forte than circuits and physics).

If I were to do Computer Engineering, will I have some of the required coursework for MSEE or will it be the same for Computer Science?

That depends on the college and the department of your graduate school.
