I'll be brief...yesterday the backdoor link worked no problems. Today it does not...sort of?

I'll enter my USC ID and birthday to get the User invalid message...but then I happened to click the link again...and without inputting my info it brought me to the page with my address and such filled out.

I've been following the USC forum, among others, and it seems like this is just one big game USC is playing and we're just along for the ride.

I have one…although, it says there’s no missing documents…
I still don’t get why it lets me in though not directly? You’d think it’d be an all or nothing deal.

This may be way off base, but admissions does read College Confidential, and may have slammed the “backdoor” after the many threads with “Backdoor” in their titles went up. The same thing happened during the scholarship round - there was a way to look up what scholarship applicants were up for before their packets arrived, and as soon as someone posted with the info in the title of a thread it was disabled.

Or it could just be the way the computers work at USC and have nothing to do with College Condifential! In any case, NONE of those links were EVER meant to give admissions status, so it is not USC playing a “game” with you - it is much more all of you trying to game USC’s system. You are probably driving them nuts!

Hmmm. My (accepted over a week ago) son’s enrollment link still works, and this would make sense, because obviously they’d want us to be able to make a deposit.

My guess is that if you USC has done anything, perhaps they have reset the system so that no ID will successfully log on to the enrollment link until a date AFTER that person’s packet would reasonably arrive.

Or perhaps the log-in was “down” while they were adding the new admittees ID’s - I kind of like that theory better.

My commit link worked, maybe an hour ago. And then 15 minutes ago it didn’t work. And now it works again. How’s that for confusing? Haha I just want to go in and fix their computer system, what with the status updates and working/not working links and… yeah. It would keep the applicant pool so much saner!

Maybe it’s a test–only the ones who make it through the process without hurling at least one computer can enroll. :)

totally different school. …but late one night while checking on school site to update parent financial aid info…,I noticed the tab where one would check if application was complete…was moved…was no longer on the top of my parent financial aid page…but to a column on the left…clicked it…admissions line said accepted…thank goodness I went and showed it to my s…and the next day checked it again…(2 days later big envelope arrived in mail)…because ever since that week…there is no such tab on his portal and from reading cc no else is even mentioning tabs/backdoors…
I am thinking some schools computer programs have some glitches…and others have been modified…

I am sort of glad they are disabled. I know this is dumb, but I don’t feel good about trying to look that way. I have done it, maybe four or five times over the last two months but never feel good about it. It has to be driving them crazy and how fair is that? They are working their tails off for all of us. I mean, this big push their doing is not for themselves, it is for our benefit and we keep getting in the way. I am relieved, because then I won’t feel tempted to look at it when I see a new link.

This is very speculative but maybe they just changed the url of the link. So our links don’t work anymore but if an accepted student were to post the link and we clicked on it or whatever, it could maybe once again work?

But yeah, tornados makes a good point.

USC rep reading this… we are all sorry for driving you guys crazy! We’re just panicy, worried, nervous, scared and we’re forgetting our concept of good ethics. (which we all do have, by the way)

“This is very speculative but maybe they just changed the url of the link. So our links don’t work anymore but if an accepted student were to post the link and we clicked on it or whatever, it could maybe once again work?”

I’m not so sure of this one…because for some reason the form still comes up with the enter info then click link…as of an hour or so ago

Tornados you do make a good point…maybe to save sanity next year just abolish the whole status system barring documents missing…though it’s certainly nice to hear, it does make the whole process more nerve racking when you’re stuck at a particular status for months on end

I’ll second Jack! USC rep reading we are most certainly sorry! at the same time we’re going crazy they still do have a job to do and we’re not making it any easier
