Backing out of early decision

No school can or wants to force anyone to attend who doesn’t want to be there. Read the link at #18.

"I don’t believe UCLA (or any UC) has released any decisions yet… "

Some UCs have released decisions. D was officially accepted to UC Davis way back in December. But, that was because she was guaranteed acceptance due to ELC. UCLA, however, has not released their decisions.

In theory, you CAN back out of ED. However, it is strongly discouraged. Some schools notify other schools if you back out of their ED (i.e. backed out of ED Cornell after applying to 3 other ivies, all three will reject you now). You SHOULD accept it, but since your child has already been accepted to UCLA then you could get away with backing out and still going to UCLA.

UCLA does not do ELC. They have not even announced Regents (not that is a guarantee of admissions, except at Cal)

^True, but it doesn’t mean you aren’t subject to being blacklisted.

The choice may be going somewhere you’ll be miserable or the rumor of possible blacklisting at schools you either don’t care about or couldn’t get into. The first step is to ask Gettysburg about release.

Yep, ■■■■■. UC schools have not released any decisions yet.

Hmmph. I expect our CC ■■■■■■ to be clever, funny, or outrageous. This is a very disappointing effort.

But so many people believed him!!!

I think that is why people believed him, MommaJ, because it is so boring and it has all been discussed on CC before.
