Hello,
i am an incoming senior and i just received my ap scores.
i am interested in pursuing biology in college and i am aiming to go to a UC.
FRESHMAN YEAR
AP Human Geo: 3
SOPHOMORE YEAR
AP World History: 4
AP Calc BC: 4
AP Calc AB subscore: 4
JUNIOR YEAR
AP Spanish: 4
AP US History: 3
AP Statistics: 3
AP Chemistry: 3
These scores are not good, and I was wondering how they will affect my admissions.
what UCs would be willing to accept these scores? I am aiming to graduate early from undergrad to save money for med school.
Should i omit some of the scores? I heard that omitting scores can look sketchy.
EDIT:
I also took the SAT and got a 1520 and the ACT and got a 32.
Please let me know. Thank you.
For the UCs, GPA and ACT/SAT are far more important than AP scores. How did you do in those areas? Also, some of the UCs are going to be less selective (UCSC, UCM, UCR) than other UCs such as UCLA, UCB, and second tier UCSD, UCI, and UC Davis.
I got a 1520 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT. my GPA throughout the year ranged from 4.3 to 4.6
The question of whether the UC accepts the AP scores is different from the question of whether you should include them in the application. For any school, you can google “Name of U” and “AP scores” to see what scores they accept.
oh okay. i understand. do you think I should omit any based on my scores? Thank you!
The only UC’s that specifically state they consider AP scores during the application review are UCLA and UCB. The 3’s will not hurt you especially since both schools do accept credit for 3’s and above (dependent upon major). You can always not report the 3’s and report the rest. The UC’s would rather see a good grade in the AP course vs. the AP score.
