Is it true that "bad teachers" can ruin your GPA (in terms of getting a B, instead of an A)? If it is, do you pretty much have to hope that you have a "good" teacher?

what do you think about this "bad/good teacher" thing?

what do you think about this "bad/good teacher" thing?

This technically can be true, but I have only had “bad teachers” a couple of times. I have found that more often then not good teachers hurt my GPA the most, because they actually challenge me and give hard tests/assignments. That being said I have also had teachers who have barely taught the material and then testes us on tons of things we didn’t know, though more often then not the “bad teachers” where easy As because they were not critical of their students. My school is so small that there is only one honors/AP teacher per a class, we all know who we are going to get, there is no point hoping that I will get a particular teacher. Honestly there is no point waisting time on something out of your control.

Bad teachers are usually associated with being too difficult or bad at teaching, so you end up getting something lower than an A. Good teachers are usually considered “good”, because they are easy or they teach well and you succeed in the class.

I think the only time Bad Teachers ever become an issue is if it’s English.
And then, it’s always best to ask him/her what you need to do to improve.

Generally no, at least not in “they didn’t teach me anything, therefore I got a B” sense. You should have taught yourself.
If they did teach, and you did work hard, but you still got a B because they were a hard grader…then I don’t think they’re a bad teacher, and I don’t think anyone’s GPA has been ruined.

I wouldn’t say ruin your GPA. My IB History of the Americas HL teacher is awful, but I still have an A in the class. Now, I’m just worried about the end-of-the-year IB examinations…

My first semester IB English teacher was AWFUL. I wasn’t motivated at all and could’ve had an easy A but got a B. My IB History teacher was AWFUL. I got a C than a B in his class My Precalc teacher was not liked because she was suer hard but because of that I LOVED her
