Bad grades in post-HS course, will RPI rescind?

Hello,

I was accepted to RPI for RD this past March (CS major). I also received a Leadership Award and scholarship.

I graduated high school at age 16, that transcript was sent and RPI saw it before they accepted me (good test scores, mostly A's and a few B's).

However, that transcript only had three years of math (including precalculus), and RPI requires four.

I've been taking a Calculus I class at a local college (not community, but not exceptional), which I started after I graduated high school. I had intended to send that to RPI for good measure. However, I haven't been doing well in the class (for personal reasons), and am expecting getting something around a C.

My question is:

Do I have to send the grades to this class to RPI, even though they've already received my final high school transcript? Will they notice if I don't?

If I do, do you think they will rescind admission? Is there any way to make this situation better other than doing as well as I can in the final month of the class?

Thank you so much for any input you guys can give me.

Did you indicate to RPI that you would be taking the class?

If you did, then you have to report it. I doubt a C will make you get rescinded. Just make sure when you take it at RPI you nail it.

I called RPI bc my son is going to get a couple of Cs on his senior report card, and RPI told me that he was already in, and short of something really bad (like Fs), he would have no problem.

@1214…how about one D and a couple of Cs…did they tell anything about it? do they have any remedial actions for Ds like summer classes, etc.

They gave me the impression they really wouldn’t re-evaluate those people accepted, unless you didn’t have enough credit to graduate, for example. I suggest you call them if you are worried.

You should ask your guidance counselor and see what they think.

Honestly though, the real question is one that you should be asking yourself-- If you are getting D’s and C’s in high school classes, how do you think you will survive at RPI? You gotta reevaluate how you are studying or you will get eaten up here.
