The beginning of this year, a girl gave birth to a baby in her dorm and tried to kill it.

Another girl stabbed her roommate to death in her sleep. This was like 2 years ago or something.

Last year a girl was raped in the dorm bathroom, by some guy that just walked in through the front door. Creepy thing was that it was the same dorm I was living at.

haha Sorry if I'm scaring any of you freshman off (and parents), but things like this happen all the time whether your in college or not so its better to be aware of them.

I’m also at U of A! Haha, we’re just scaring everyone off…

Just noticed a post in my dorm. Apparently some guy keeps tailgating people into their dorms and sleeping in the building. Not necessarily dangerous in the usual sense, but it’s scaring the bajeezus out of me.

Many many many many deaths:suicides, homicides, accidents
Then, there’s rape and I’m sure attacks… I’m looking at the last 100 years or so, though, so it’s to be expected that all this could happen.

our Center for Chem and Bio used to be the triangle shirtwaist factory where hundreds of women died in a fire, either burning to death inside or leaping to their deaths. it’s not really a college event but I get the creeps when I have class in there. =/ they can’t tear it down since it’s a historic landmark

we’ve also had a couple of grisly suicides with people jumping off buildings into lobbies, courtyards or the street. in my friend’s dorm the body hit a lamppost and lit on fire in the dorm courtyard where everyone could see…morbid.

the roommate story makes me glad i’m a commuter! the baby killing one is just sick.

I should have gone to a trade school instead. XD

The school where my boyfriend goes, a girl was raped and murdered in her dorm. They crank the heat so bad in that place that her body was decaying within days-- they discovered the crime when her suitemate noticed the smell. The university announced that there had been a girl that died but nothing more was said, we all just assumed she partied too hard or something. Six months later we found out there had been a homicide investigation going on the entire time and that the suspect was ON THE LOOSE AND STILL ATTENDING CLASSES. Tons of faculty were fired and the school lost some of its funding for attempting to cover it up. The truth didn’t come out until just after it was too late for students to withdraw from classes or housing contracts without losing any money, so people who were upset or scared were forced to stay or forfeit their money. I refused to go to that school because of that incident and the lack of improvement in security since then, but I go to school 20 minutes away.

I go to school in North Philly. We have shootings right off campus pretty much all the time. There was a shooting at the Crown Fried Chicken last year, which is across the street from one of the dorms. Thankfully, though, very rarely does crime other than muggings happen to students.

UNC-Chapel Hill-Our student body president was shot and killed last year.

The president of DKE (one of the largest and most prominent fraternities on campus) was shot and killed by the police last week; apparently he was unarmed.

From last 10 years in 2 universities I attended + exchange:

Drug sting operation, 32 charged with possession. Agents disguised as clubbers. Some students were groing marijuana indoor in the Uni. apartments, they got them by looking into extremely above-normal levels of electricity consumption.

Student lured from a bar into a truck by ppl he had just met, kidnapped then left to die tied to barbed wire in a snow fence during winter.

Car accident at 60 miles from campus: drunk student (0.15) driving alone in a mountainous road hit other car with 5 varsity team players (at chance, they were not attending same event or anything). 4 players died, drunk student allowed to stay in University for getting a degree then locked up (10 yrs) as part of plea bargain.

To Psycho: yup. The baby had just been born in the bathroom. I can’t remember exactly what the girl did with the baby, but it’s still all over the news. Same with the roommate stabbing. (I believe she’s still on trial.)

Another U of A one: we had a kid jump off a building about 4 years ago. Didn’t actually die, though.

We had a Muslim guy try and do his own terrorist attack a couple of years ago. He rented an SUV and drove through the pit (basically a gathering area on campus), trying to hit people. I believe he hit 7 people before people swarmed the truck and beat the **** out of him. He’s in prison now.

Yea, she gave birth to it in the shower and then put it in a garbage bag, I believe her hallmates called the police because the bag was moving. The baby is alive but in critical condition. Yea we get muggings and rape near or on campus as well.

Freshman year a guy died falling into the lake on campus. Was drunk, but nobody saw him that night any place other than a party several blocks away from campus and at his dorm on the far south edge of campus (again, several blocks from the lake).

Sophomore year a gunman was in one of the dorms arguing with a girl, but it luckily was over Spring Break and there weren’t many people in the dorms. I remember being in a hotel with my friends on our trip and we all woke up to the Campus Alert system sending us voicemails and text messages at 3 AM. Nothing bad happened, and the guy was arrested.

(This one’s kinda disturbing). Earlier this summer, some guys were messing around in one of the off-campus apartment buildings where a lot of students live. They were just joking around and one kid playfully shoved the other (kid was like 250-lbs though)–and the elevator doors gave way. Fell 2 floors to where the elevator was stopped, slid off the side and fell 5 more floors to the bottom of the elevator shaft. Neither was a student at our school, but were good friends with each other and in town visiting a friend who is a student here. Lawsuits have been filed I believe.
