Hello, I’m an incoming freshman at Rutgers NB and I’m going to major in finance at the business school. I read online that it would be smart to major in something stem related, to open more doors in the future. I really want to double major/minor in computer science or BAIT. I really can figure out which one. The end goal is to become a financial analyst or investment banker in one of NYC’s banks, but I know plans change and I want a backup. I read that BAIT is a bit easier than CS but CS is more valuable. I just don’t want to have a low GPA and be in debt. Is a Finance degree all that I need or should I still aim for the BAIT and/or Computer science degree as well? Please help!
The tech market is in very high demand right now, so it really won’t matter which one you choose. If you have a business background, it’s a lot easier to double major in IT than computer science, because IT is already a business degree. CS really isn’t more valuable, it’s just different. Having a business/financial background is actually very valuable especially if you know SQL.
