Sounds like a dayum good reason to go, to me!

I don't understand why you're so nervous. Is this your first interview or something?

Go it will be fun. You have nothing to lose. Minimum you get is 500 and it could be more + free food.

its not an interview...you have to like write stuff and then get up and discuss it in front of judges? thats what the description says...i hate public speaking!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

write about how nervous you were about the whole thing....

talk as much as you can...its only with 7 other students and a panel of about 5 adults...its easy just TALK A LOT and be selfish in speaking

z2thay--

OMG its 7 people?! that freaks me out even more cause ill be put on the spot...crap. have u done this before???? could u give me more details?

yermama,

I was a regional finalist for science & math in San Diego and I did attend the final competition earlier this month. When you arrive, you will be seated in a romm with the finalists for your category and one other. You will then be given a prompt to write on for 30 minutes. Note that the prompt is specific to your category. You can respond however you like, but be aware that the judges will never actually read what you write.

After the writing time is done, you will be escorted to a room with the other finalists from your category and a panel of judges. You will then present your statement in a randomly selected sequence of all eight finalists. After that, you will debate the topic with the other finalists and the judges for around 90 minutes.

That's it. Just be yourself and do what you can to center the debate around you.

Good luck (and I placed 1st for science and math at the regional event in San Dieog a couple of weeks ago).

seriously thinking of ditching after reading that....

im looking at the sample ? now and i really dont know what i could say about it...

was it fun for you and were u nervous??? and how smart was everyone there?! and sorry last one, does everyone have to talk a lot...
