Does anyone have information about careers as a banker, aside from investment banking? What about people who work for bank of america or other small banks? What is their typical career path? Do they make good money? Is it necessary to go to a target school to get jobs in that industry?

Also, what about personal bankers or personal financial planners (I hear that this career area is on the rise)? What does one's career look like in this industry?

thanks

oh, this could also include portfolio management/wealth management. thanks again

Financial planning is on the rise.

The consensus is that you need a bachelors degree then sit for and pass the CFP exam. After that you need 3 years of relevant work experience.

I am currently looking at getting an internship in asset management (portfolio/wealth/investment management). From there I will hopefully get a job offer and get 3 years experience then get some clientale.

There are a lot of options available that aren’t Investment Banking.
