THere are ATMs for at least 2 banks on campus - PNC and National City, plus a number of branch banks within a few blocks of campus for both. There is a rumor that PNC is placing a branch on-campus within the next year - probably have one teller there maybe 3-4 hrs. per business day, plus a couple ATMs.

Banking info will come with orientation info in early summer, plus those 2 banks will have reps at orientation and you can open an account in about 15 minutes.

The "rumor" that beachy mentioned was confirmed by PNC, so they'll definitely have a branch on campus (where, I don't know). I know they already have a branch 5 minutes away by walking from campus, and one in squirrel hill (where students go for groceries and some shopping). Based on what I was told at orientation, I'd recommend PNC since they have the least fees, but you'll probably want to check the websites of PNC and Citizens before you commit. MAke sure to look for their student plans, as they're better than the regular ones. Good luck!

I use PNC and have had no problems. I don't really see how I could, though - I put money in, they keep it for a while and then I take it back out. For the purposes of an average college student, there isn't a significant difference between banks, but of course it is always best to check around for better fees and rates and such.

We use credit union ATMS. We load up the account here. And he withdraws cash there. As long as the CU ATM is in the same network - no fees.

His ATM card went bad this year and our CU said to simply show your ATM card, picture ID, and tell other CU that card is demagnetized and another one is ordered; Presto- cash.
