Banking on Campus/town

Sorry to have to ask but we are not that familiar with the Midd campus. We are wondering where it is best to open an acct for our incoming freshman. Is there an ATM on or close to campus? Or a place to cash checks? What branches are the easiest to use? Thanks.

National Bank of Middlebury ([Vermont Banks, National Bank of Middlebury, Mortgages, Personal, Business Loans & Vehicle Loans](http://www.nationalbankmiddlebury.com/Default.aspx))

They have two ATMs on campus (one in the student center and one in the library).

since this is a local bank do they set up something for students to open accounts during orientation week? If you don’t open up at MiddBank then can you cash checks somewhere on campus with out of state checks? It will be hard to have 2 bank accounts for her.

Yes, during orientation she will get information about opening an account at National Bank of Middlebury. They offer special accounts for students.

The main branch of the bank is located a short walk from campus. It’s a full-service bank, so it should meet her needs.

Check out the “ePanther” personal checking account features: [Personal Checking](http://www.nationalbankmiddlebury.com/info.aspx?PageID=621)

This account has no minimum balance and no monthly fees.

I’m not aware of any other way to cash checks on campus.

Tip: Try to go to the bank prior to the first day of orientation/move in. Last year we were there early enough in the day (the day before) that H&S decided to just go and open S’s account before the bank closed. The woman who helped them said they were smart to come in early because “tomorrow would be a zoo.” They were in and out in 10 minutes.
