As far as I know, there are no Chase banks in Ithaca. However, Chase holds what little money I possess. Does anyone have an alternative to using a bank in Syracuse?

Syracuse?

If you are looking for a nationwide bank, there is Bank of America There is also HSBC, and there are other local banks as well, including M&T.

Yea, BoA and HSBC are the only banks I know that are in Ithaca and have locations at least in the Northeast.
There should be a BoA and HSBC in Syracuse too.

Well, since I doubt I will be able to go to a Chase very often, should I just open a temporary account with a local bank?

Opening M&T account is a solution. They have more ATMs on-campus compared to other banks, plus they have a branch in Cornell Store as well. So, it’s really convenient.

Why couldn’t you just switch over to BoA or HSBC?

just open a free checking account at one of the local banks…

keep or turn your chase account into a saving’s account and fill your checking account with money (as needed)
