Banks and Credit Unions in Davis

Any recommendations on banks or CUs in Davis? I’m currently with Citibank and I’m annoyed that they don’t have a branch here.

I believe US Bank is the largest on the campus:

• Full Service Branch in Memorial Union
• 7 ATM’s located around campus (ARC, Medical Sciences Building, Gallagher Hall and Conference Center, SILO, Memorial Union Hall, Memorial Union Hall-Games Area, and inside branch)
• Free Student Checking
• Access to your Banking Account through your Aggie Card
• Free/Unlimited Internet Banking
• Overdraft Protection
• Free Bill Pay
• Free Text/Email Alerts (check with your mobile provider to ensure your service supports this option at no charge.)
• Free Mobile Banking with U.S Bank’s Mobile Wallet*
• Free Financial Consulting

I don’t think there is chase on campus, but keep in mind that that is a list of atms on campus. I would check daviswiki

yes, definitely check the wiki site. my personal opinion is that i don’t like us bank. they seem to have a stranglehold on college campuses, and they try too hard to entice students to take loans with their bank. don’t get your student id ‘linked’ to their bank…i feel it’s a trap.

there isn’t a chase on campus but there’s a branch downtown. i like the idea of having to actually walk a bit to access money. makes u think twice before simply skipping over to the more convenient (too convenient?) atm on campus.

I’m leaning towards going to Golden 1 right now. Credit unions seem like a much safer institution for students to save money, and it’s a 5 minute bike ride from the MU.

I personally like BofA… they have a bazillion ATMs across the country… and I love their On-line Banking. Credit Unions usually have limits on ATM use… unless it’s theirs.

Don’t get me wrong… I belong to three credit unions… better rates and service than most Banks… but the ATM convenience and Online Banking win me over hands down when it comes to checking accounts.

What purpose do you have to be a member of three credit unions and a bank, VentureMan?

Most credit Unions no-adays… not much. I could just be living in the City they reside, etc. In the past, you usually had to belong to a company(s) or union(s) to belong. You have to contact each CU to know their rules.

I’ve had a variety of employment… hence the opportunity to join a few CUs. As I said… Banks with a bazillion ATMs are the way to go for checking… it’s extremely rare for me to go inside a Bank… every thin is done via ATM or Online… IMHO.

Loans and Savings… CUs rock.
