I didn’t like the idea at first - but I’m not going to be putting much into his account. It is not a visa - it is a debit card that can be used on campus and at authorized places for purchases. I don’t think there is another back on campus that can be used as an atm.

I am going to wire him money when the account gets low. So hopefully it’ll work out.

We went back and forth on this same issue. The downside of the US Bank for us was that there was no local branch at home so that we could put monies into her account easily.
DD checked to see which local bank was also in Evanston-then checked to see which student checking account program seemed to work best for her. She decided to go with Bank of America. She has an ATM/Debit card-can be used on campus-but-a fee is charged. She was also issued a credit card…hope this helps-APOL

I never bothered to sync WildCard and ATM because I am on Bank of America back home. There is an actual bank 2 blocks from campus in downtown Evanston and a BoA ATM 3 blocks west of campus on the northern side. It’s really not that much more convenient to have USBank.

I have continued to fail to see the reason to link Wildcard with ATM. I know very few people that do it. You can just get a US Bank debit card anyways, which you ideally should have far more control with the ability to cancel it/etc in case you lose your wildcard/get it stolen. And if you are going to carry a wallet/purse, you will have enough room for both your wildcard and your debit card anyways.

Off the top of my head, the other Evanston banks with ATMs are BofA, Chase, and LaSalle–although none of these are on campus.

Since my family uses Wells Fargo and I have my work study direct deposit go there, it is sometimes tough to get cash without stomaching the $5 atm charge (2 for wells fargo and 2.50 for US bank). I usually try and get cash back from the whole foods or CVS, but if its late at night or you live up north, it would be harder to do that route.

For a family that uses one of the banks I listed above, definitely use them instead.

I have always gone with Citibank - five minute walk from South campus, near Panera - and have never had any problems with it. The ATM’s are always accessible, funds are always available immediately after they’re deposited – I love it!

I’m in US Bank specifically for school. I live up north, and walking to get cash is really quite a hassle. I use a clip, and i only bring my wildcard/atm, credit card, and drivers license with me. Thus, its useful for me to use US Bank. I work part time, so my paychecks go into the US Bank atms that are at SPAC and in Tech. I primarily use citibank, but its definitely not worth walking that far just for some pocket change.

There are also ATMs at Norris, by Allison, i assume around the library, Kellogg, and Pancoe. But don’t quote me on those last three.
