@SpiritManager, I suppose you’re right but it still sucks because Bard was one of my top choices, but now this is painting it in a bad light for me.
I contacted the office yesterday, and the the lady I spoke with said I was deferred because they considered me an international student, which shouldn’t be the case since I’m a perm resident. So they should be reviewing my file again and let me know my decision this week.
Side note, the lady I spoke with in the office was the sweetest and most helpful person lol
Anduar3, I’d suggest you call again. Bard messed up my daughter’s app last year. Deffered her from EA then “lost” her app /file. It took weeks of phone call to even reach someone who could help. Make sure to talk directly with the addmissions person for your area. Ask them to check their records and make sure that your app is still under consideration and if you have any outstanding documents.
By the time Bard admitted to the error, we were so frustrated that she no longer had any interest in attending.
Something I mentioned before, but needs repeating - no decision regarding any school at all should be made because of one’s interactions with the admissions department - no matter if it’s fantastic or miserable. Once a student enrolls in a school their relationship with the admissions office ends. Even problems with registration offices and student affairs should be taken with a shrug of the shoulders - if a student is otherwise getting the best education possible. Foremost should always be the professors, the course offerings, and the fellow students.
However, @momneeds2no makes a good point that if you have any concerns, it is always best to follow up on any issue, rather than assume everything is being taken care of. Just for your own peace of mind, if nothing else.
Wondering the same thing about merit awards. My son applied for the DSS Scholarship, and we’re wondering if we’ll have to wait until April financial aid awards go out to find out about this science scholarship as well. Does anyone know definitively what the timeline is for this?
I emailed and received a very helpful reply to my question about merit aid, from the Bard Financial Aid office today. They said that decisions are made about the Bard Distinguished Scientist and EEC Scholarships in March, and then notification is made in the students’ financial aid award letter that is mailed in early April. So, if anyone received an “estimated” financial aid award letter recently, any merit awards are NOT included in that letter.
