<p>I think the article meant that perceptions of the applicants have changed, not the schools themselves, or am I wrong? The world is discovering that Bard is a fascinating place!</p>
<p>Well I think there’s a little of both going on. Clearly there has been strong institutional momentum for the entirety of Leon Botstein’s tenure as president. However, I believe many of Bard’s initiatives have begun to bear fruit in the past decade, and we’re getting noticed more and more often. </p>
<p>There is a lag time between transformations in the student body and wider recognition. And I think with regards to Bard there’s this sense that we’re on the move, so to speak, and that we’re pursuing a lot of new and innovative initiatives that force people to rethink what the college once was.</p>
