I’m hoping to get some information about the Barnard/Columbia dance program, my DD is a HS Junior and has danced for many years, she would like to continue to dance in college but would also like to pursue chemistry. Any information regarding admissions process, program structure, etc would be appreciated.
My daughter was admitted ED to the class of 2024. Her intended majors are economics and dance. Barnard’s dance program is rated very highly, and we liked that academics are definitely a priority. We both believe that her years of dance helped her admittance. She submitted a dance supplemental and also a visual arts supplement. Her GPA and standardized test scores fell right within Barnard’s range, but so do so many applicants’ GPAs and test scores. She signed up for an on campus interview as soon as they were available. She looked at some BFA programs for dance, but didn’t want to focus so exclusively on dance. Fingers crossed all the first years get to go to campus in the fall!!
@Gigimommy you might also check out Mount Holyoke. They have a very strong dance program and exemplary science programs. I was a biology major there back in the day. I don’t know if this still true, but at one time if you looked at all the women in the US who held PhDs in chemistry, more got their undergraduate degree at MHC than any other school regardless of size.
Love the thread title, but thought that it referred to the relationship between the two schools.
