Hi! So I really like Barnard’s academics and environment but feel like its career services are lacking.
I’m planning to major in political science. know Barnard helps students find links and outside services to apply to internships but does Barnard itself have any internship opportunities that its students can take advantage of? Are there any Barnard programs that students can apply and gain a unique internship experience through?
Thanks
Barnard has a new career services initiative… they recently brought on UChicago’s very excellent director of career development. At admitted student’s weekend, I was very impressed with the services, as well as the encouragement to have internships and meaningful work. They fund students who find non-paying internships, as well as providing a huge variety of on-campus jobs in all different departments. They are also working on adding on to existing Barnard-reserved internships in cooperation with NYC businesses, some very big names. Many classes aren’t held on Fridays, leaving the day free for work experience. When I toured the campus with my daughter, it seemed that all of the students we ran across, including some with typically more difficult to employ majors, had already had at least one internship. I left campus viewing it as a major plus in Barnard’s favor.
Thank you so much! That’s definitely interesting and great news. Do you know of any online links or articles talking about this?
